Hey its been a while! Well to make up for it, heres two more videos! The first was a contest entry (haha) i never do this but this time I decided to just do it! If I don't win, at least I'll learn something from filming and it sounds fun anyways. So I kind of went ... really crazy on this and built a vanity set and dolly and everything. I was going to build a ringlight as well but time ran out. Maybe next video.
The other video is just a behind the scenes thing of me building the set and editing. No behind the scene filming though because its seriously just me and a camera HAHAHA! Also I've been mega lagging on blogs but here are some mixed photos!
Thank you so much to Katie for the Coastal Scents Palette! Its pure love <3!, Anz for all the hardcore accessories :), Shirley for the two Kate palettes + mascara! I wear the palettes everyday, Amy for the lashes + eyebon, & Khatsii for the lipgloss & card (totally saves my life during this dry weather time).
I also bought a few mascaras, One that I love and two that I had to return. I love the Covergirl Lashblast. Almost as much as my Maybelline Colossal Lash but not quite. Unfortunately, the Clinique mascaras I got were pure poop to be honest. It felt so heavy and gloppy. It could barely hold the curl at all. NO ME GUSTA!
Also, I bought narcissus from NYX which I adore and I also bought a few lipsticks for an upcoming giveaway. I think I actually might do two giveaways this time, one for YT and one for blogger? I don't know! ARGH!!
Alright finally done filming! I was commissioned a video a month or two ago from http://vanitybox.com.au To be honest, I wasn't expecting much after having crappy products with overseas brands. I find they are usually a hit or miss. This brand is definitely a hit. I love everything about their products... EVERYTHING AREWRJORAAJREA!!wrpiw1@!@GURGLE GURGLE (thats how much I love it)
First off customer service wise, they were very very quick responding to emails. Also, the package came flipping immaculate. I've never had a company send me make-up packed soooooo beautifully. They had two layers of tight plastic and more bubble wrap inside! I don't know bout you guys but most of the time when I order make-up they usually dump it in one of those little packages with bubble wrap lining. Nope not vanity box! Just their packaging alone wins them an A
Alright first off their jewelry. For all jewelry I do an "endurance" test. So right after we finished filming... I dumped it in my bag. Now you might think well thats not hardcore at all!! But ... you have never seen the contents of my bag! Theres so much crap in there that if this ring makes it through one whole day, it passes. I've tried this with countless other rings and not many of them passed. In fact urban outfitter's ring lasted 5 whole hours before one jewel came off... but then again urban outfitter makes shit quality jewelry so I shouldn't compare.
Ring wise, The design is really really pretty with a bunch of different sized rocks, which makes it look more classy. Also, no itching on my part!! Always a good thing.
Next up they sent me three eyeshadows:
Ameli #027 Nude Beige
Ameli #125 Luxury Brown
Ameli #501 Champagne
Alright these things are A FRICKING MAZING. Okay you know when you want that shimmer but its not really... glitter? I can't explain it but its smaller shimmers that make your eyes pop as opposed to looking like a crazy disco ball, yeah these eyeshadows have that, and then some!! Seriously these are my new everyday favorite eyeshadows now. Let me tell you why.
They go on smooth. Actually smooth is an understatement. AND they don't have any fallout. Even with the brown there was very very minimal fallout. Of course when I didn't dust it on my hand and just hastily applied there was a little fallout but nothing that made me break out the brush or tape! Also, they gave me this seperate shimmer (champagne) to layer ontop and its gorgeous. It makes your eyes reflect and look instantly brighter without being overdone. Seriously I can't live without these eyeshadows. Even my boyfriend was like damn these eyeshadows are pretty...
He then proceeded to try some on in hopes of being beautiful. One day Aaron, one day. HAHA just kidding. You are always beautiful (b'awwww enter cheese here)
Next up their brow gel. I'm a big fan of lightening eyebrows but I think that this is only for people with relatively light eyebrows already (if your eyebrows are very very thick this isn't going to lighten it much). It does make your eyebrows lighter but you have to coat it carefully and draw your eyebrows in beforehand. One time I drew my brows in afterwards, smushing the gel onto my skin and it became a giant gloopy mess. So take heed when using this product but when it does work, it works!
And finally Ameli #01A Ameli Luminizer(Ivory). I really like this but again, I'm way too pale for this. It kind of shows kind of doesnt. I like the fact that its matte (a BIG bonus). Trust me girls you do NOT want a shimmer highlight. Pros is that it subtlety highlights your features without overdoing it. AND it comes in the most adorable flipping packaging ever!! It works better on "normal" skin since I'm so pale from never getting any sun!
Okay quick overview of my thoughts on Ameli's products. First off, these products are made to enhance natural features, not cover them up. You know how some companys you can tell that their products are for theatrical features, the runway, crazy eccentric cat ladies, etc.? Yeah this isn't that. Their products feel pretty high end to me. Best part is that all the powders are pretty soft but not soft to the point where it crumbles (worst experience ever) leaving you with little fallout.
If you were to pick only one thing from their shop I recommend the champagne shadow. Because it makes everything look more than stunning.
So I was invited by Jasmine (some of you guys might know her as Jazziebabycakes on youtube) to go to the Beautylish headquarters! It was a super fun experience. Me, Aaron, and Jazzy had such fun times talking about everything (from frozen meats on trees, an ingenius idea i might add!, to showing eachother our embarrassing ID photos to make-up and video editing) over some tacos & ceviche! I saw where they did their videos and I can't wait to hang out again. When we went there, everyone had already left except for the programmers so I guess I have to return! I filmed my first vlog about this trip. I'm kind of nervous showing it because I hate the way I sound!
Meeting Jazzy was a funny story. Apparently Jazzy's boss sent her my video and we started tweeting when... she realized that she did my make-up for a fashion show a year ago! talk about small world haha!! I didn't know she was so popular back then! In fact, I didn't know a lot of people I met were (talk about flipping oblivious?!?) And she didn't know it was me because I'm so different when I talk.
So after lunch we went to the headquarters and I got to see where they store their snackies & do their videos & overall really kickass stuff. Only one photo inside Beautylish but you'll see the rest in my vlog! If you have a beautylish add me! (http://www.beautylish.com/peachd0ll). Afterwards, I went to h&m downtown and I got these two shirts. The first one is a thick fitted vneck sweater that is super long with long sleeves! (love) and the second is a very cute tanktop with nice print (you know im a sucker for nice print!) plus it says high heels high hopes? HAHAA. she got highhhhh hopes!!
So I was planning on my look for my next YT video since I got so much positive feedback on my current one... and I totally failed haha. Here is a photo to document what will never be seen on camera! You can barely see the purple here but trust me... its loud and proud.I had to switch up my look and here is the outcome -- > MAH VIDEO!! It took forever to film (two days & 7 hours to edit) I'm getting better at editing. If you guys thought my last video was epic... this one is even more epic.
WATCH THE VID HERE
Here are some production stills from the video TEAASERRRRSSS
Anyways I feel so sad for the lack of updates (ESPECIALLY THE FOOD!!) ... but I hope that my videos will make up for it in the long run! Here is some of the yummy food I ate recently: pad kee mao, papaya salad, fruit tart, & an eclair.
Until Next Time,
Mint
P.S. Do you guys think I should do videos outside of make-up? I mean I think make-up is a good platform to market myself but I wanna do other adventure videos too!! What you think? And also should I do shorter videos every week (1-2 minutes) or more epic lengthy videos every 2 weeks?
FUCK YEAH FINISHED MY VIDEO .. I can't believe its been three years since my last make-up video. When I did this video three years ago, I told myself I would stop making videos until I'm pro enough [make-up wise & filming wise]. Then recently I posted a random video up for an interview & people started commenting PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS.. Its been three years so if people still want me to make videos after three years then thats saying something! So I bought a t2i sold my old camera [well... listed on ebay] & then I finished editing my video.
... idk if you guys are really interested in how I did it but I like explaining these things anyways... so I was going to render it in After Effects and make all these epic effects and what not but as soon as I saved my 2gb video --> 120gb LOL WTF BBQ... So I mean I understand why its so big since usually you would film it into sections but I didn't really write a storyboard for this.. .LOL I was just like hay thug lyf gonna make this shit happen.... which isnt really a smart move when you edit since I had two 12minute segments and a bunch of 3-5 minute segments. A total of 40 minutes of footage.. Thats pretty long mind you!! for a 4 minute video?!? So I was thinking dude... I need to cut these segments before I do any effects over it... So I brought it over to Premiere and cut my video.. which took me approximately 7 hours. Not too bad. There are around 60+ cuts in this video. I stopped counting.
So I did effects in Premiere but they were mostly just color correction/lighting correction because honestly, I don't know how to do all the cool effects on Premiere as I do on After Effects. But myeh I'll know what to do differently for the next video!! I coordinated my whole video with the music. DADALIFE!!! haha! I exported it as a MPEG2 & tada... my video.WATCH IT & SUB PLZ. I'm quite happy with the results & I think people are too since I got 100 new subscribers yesterday :)
